Corcoran Asks Upper Mac Dems To Send Primary Message

Supervisor candidate wants to get voters out and end "business as usual."

Upper Macungie Township's supervisor race won't be decided until November's general election, but Democratic candidate isn't waiting to mobilize his voting block.

Corcoran, in a Wednesday release, called on fellow Democrats to "make a statement," in the May 17 primary where he is running unopposed on the ticket.

Corcoran will face incumbent Upper Macungie Township supervisor in November's general election. Rader is running unopposed on the Republican ticket.

Corcoran's release asked Democratic voters  to support his bid to bring private sector business experience, fresh ideas and new solutions to bear on issues resulting from more than a decade of “business as usual” in the township building.

“We have growing budget concerns, continued growth and cross-municipal problems that must be addressed in the near future,” Corcoran said in the release. “We need fresh perspectives, a business person’s background and, most of all, an independent viewpoint to find the solutions that will help us keep the character of Upper Macungie intact as we look forward to economic recovery and deal with shrinking state and federal budgets.”

Corcoran said in the release that residents should be assured that decisions made by supervisors are not made based on the potential impact on their own professional careers paths or personal financial security.

"I think that the Board of Supervisors needs a new voice,” Corcoran said. “I’m asking Democrats in the township to send a message on primary election day and give us the momentum we need to win in November.”
