Counterfeit $50 Shows Up at Trexlertown Exxon

Upper Macungie police looking for more information on phony currency.

Upper Macungie Police say a customer tried to fill up at a Trexlertown gas station Friday using a counterfeit $50 bill.

According to police, an employee reported that a woman came to the Exxon-Mobil on Hamilton Boulevard 4:18 p.m. and asked for $50 worth of gas, handing the clerk a $50 bill.

The clerk used the counterfeit detector pen on the bill and it failed. The bill also had no security strip, police said.

The clerk told the woman she should turn the bill over to police, and the woman left the station.
