LCTI Students Shine at Skills Competition

Sixteen LCTI students will advance to the state conference, including three from Parkland High School.

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students shined earlier this month at the “Showcase of Skills” District 11 SkillsUSA Championships, including 14 who attend LCTI from . 

The competition was held in the Allentown Fairgrounds Agri-Plex.

Here are the LCTI students from Parkland who were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in 11 categories:

The competition included students from six schools: LCTI, Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, Career Institute of Technology in Easton, Monroe Career & Technical Institute in Bartonsville, Upper Bucks County Technical School in Perkasie and Colonial Academy in Wind Gap.

The SkillsUSA Council aims to create a strong workforce by developing partnerships among the business community and schools.  The “Showcase of Skills” provides an opportunity for competitors to demonstrate skills to industry representatives.

Area business leaders judge the competitions.

The District 11 Skills USA Championships included 33 competitions. Sixteen first-place winners, including Parkland's Uff, Considine and Fritz, will advance to represent District 11 at the State Conference April 18-20 in Hershey.
