Macungie Bridge Work Spanning Route 100 Starts Monday

PennDOT says will be narrowed between South Lea and Walnut streets.

Travel lanes on Route 100 between South Lea and Walnut streets will be narrowed beginning Monday when PennDOT commences preservation work on a bridge spanning a tributary to Swope Creek in Macungie Borough.

PennDOT said, in a release, that its crews will perform deck and joint repairs on the adjacent concrete box-beam bridge. The project also calls for new guide rail and paving of the bridge approaches.

PennDOT said the project is expected to be completed in September and noted that motorists in the area should use caution. Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. of Conneaut Lake, Pa. is the general contractor on the $382,183 project.
