New Communications Tower Coming To Upper Mac
A request for a new communications tower was approved by Upper Macungie supervisors to enhance communications for the new police department.

The anticipated cost of the tower is $115,000 and is scheduled to be installed on the highest point in the township, which is on Church Street, according to supervisor Sam Ashmar.
"It's like a cellphone tower. There are still some points in the township where the radio transmissions are low," said Ashmar when queried about why the tower was not going to be placed behind the new police station.

Backup generators for the communications tower will also be purchased at a cost of between $15,000 and $30,000 each.
