Night at the Movies, Dine to Donate Top Week's Events

The calendar says mid-August and before you know it, the kids will be back to school and the Labor Day weekend will be upon us. Still, even though these are the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, there's a full docket of things you need to know this week in and around Upper Macungie:

• Come out to Applebee's at 1510 S. Cedar Crest Blvd. in Allentown on Wednesday to participate in Dining to Donate for The Parkland Community Library. Applebee's will donate 10 percent of your food and beverage purchase to the library with a flyer you can pick up at the library.

• The Parkland Community Library will hold its monthly Night at the Movies on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Under the licensing agreement, the library is not permitted to list titles here. Please call 610-398-1361 or come into the library at 4422 Walbert Ave, Allentown, for the information.

• The Lehigh Valley Zoo presents its final Twilight Thursday of the summer on Thursday, staying open until 8 p.m. Enjoy the animals after-hours, grab dinner from the Bison Prairie Grill and buy some great items at the Bear Crossing Gift Shop. $1 hot dogs will be available from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• The first day of fall sports practice at Parkland High School is Monday.
