Preliminary Hearing Set For Psychiatrist in Drug Ring Case

Dr. David W. Daley, formerly of Fogelsville, is charged with prescribing medication outside of accepted treatment principles and helping patients fraudulently obtain prescription drugs, according to court records.

District Judge Michael Faulkner has set a June 26 preliminary hearing date for Dr. David W. Daley, a former Fogelsville resident who is charged in a drug ring case.

Daley and other co-defendants had their preliminary hearings continued last week.

Daley, 58, is charged with 33 counts of prescribing medication outside of accepted treatment principles and helping patients fraudulently obtain prescription drugs, according to court records.

All of the charges are felonies, according to the state attorney general's office, which filed the criminal complaint in Dauphin County in October 2012.

According to the complaint, Daley is alleged to have furnished prescriptions for Oxycontin, Methadone and Xanax as well as other painkillers to the co-defendants.

According to court records, the offenses took place in 2008 and 2009.
