Extra Large Wawa Gets Zoning Approval

A new development on Cetronia Road includes a Wawa that is more than 4,000 square feet.

Zoning board members gave the green light Wednesday night to a new to be built at 1024 Cetronia Road.

The proposed Wawa store and gas station needed a variance because it weighs in at  4,133 square feet. Zoning requirements cap the store's square footage at 4,000 square feet.

Zoners gave their approval to the variance requiring a 75 foot buffer zone between a proposed 8,400 square-foot Goddard School daycare center on the property and the shopping center's property line. Near , the development plans for the property also include a 3,000 square-foot bank and a 5,500 square-foot auto center.

Property owner John Zaharchuk said he purchased the property, which is located on the Route 222 bypass, from the estate of Fred Jaindl.

Developers of the project are Mountainhome Development Associates, L.P. and Summit Realty Advisors.

Next, the plans for the Wawa convenience store will go before Upper Macungie planners and supervisors in the coming months following a hearing in front of the township's Zoning Hearing Board Wednesday night.
