Tomorrow is Deadline to Comment on New Political Map

Redistricting will slightly change Upper Macungie Township's state House representation.

A proposed statewide redistricting plan would change representation in the state House but would leave the state Senate seat as is.

At present, the township is divided between the 134th state House seat (representing the township's District 4), held by Republican Doug Reichley, and the 187th (Districts 1,2,3 and 5), held by Republican Gary Day.

Under the redistricting plan, Day's seat would represent the entire township.

State Senate representation would not change. The township would stay part of the 16th district, represented by Republican Pat Browne, who holds office hours three days a week at the on Schantz Road.

Wednesday is the deadline for public comments on this redistricting plan.

  • Any resident who wants to register a complaint can do so through the 2011 Legislative Reapportionment Commission’s website at www.redistricting.state.pa.us.
  • The website also allows users to access detailed maps of the redistricting proposal and watch videos of the various meetings and hearings the Commission has held.
