This Week: Back-to-School and Parent Meetings
A book signing and talk is scheduled at Parkland Community Library Thursday and the Upper Macungie Supervisors will hold two meetings this week.

It's the first week of September and that means back-to-school for students and all the activities that come with it.
Here's what you need to know this week in Upper Macungie:
- The Parkland School District holds its first day of classes Tuesday.
- Parkland High School's Parent Orientation meeting will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
- Orefield Middle School will hold its first Parent Teacher Organization meeting of the year Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.
- Love dogs? Join Connie Newcomb, author of "Dog Show Confidential: Sneaking in the Back Door of Westminster," to learn about how she turned a neurotic, man-hating Chihuahua puppy into a champion, ending up at Madison Square Garden’s annual televised Westminster Kennel Club dog show with an Award of Merit for her second champion. It's the Book Signing and Talk at Parkland Community Library Thursday at 7 p.m.
- The Upper Macungie Board of Supervisors will hold a special 2014 budget meeting Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the township building, located at 8330 Schantz Road.
