Trexlertown Makes History
Fifty years ago Rodale Inc.'s "Bicycling" magazine made its debut, which later gave Trexlertown a world-renown identity.

Trexlertown is known as the center of the bicycling universe thanks to the velodrome, now known as the . But the velodrome owes its thanks to Bob Rodale, who fell in love with track cycling in the 1960s.
Rodale built the velodrome in 1974, and in 1978 Rodale Inc., the Emmaus publishing house, bought a magazine, the “Northern California Velosport Newsletter,” which was founded in 1961.
Rodale transformed that regional magazine into the world’s leading, and now longest continually-published cycling magazine, “Bicycling".

With Bicycling magazine and the velodrome, Trexlertown became know as “T-town” on the world bicycling circuit. Mention T-town to any professional or avid cycling enthusiast, and they know exactly where you mean.
“Bicycling’s” 50th anniversary edition is on newsstands now. Of course, 50 years later there are no newsstands left, so you better go to a bookstore instead.
