5. Today in History: Lizzie Borden took an ax… On Aug. 4, 1892 Andrew and Abby Borden were found bludgeoned in their home. One of their daughters, Lizzie (Abby was Lizzie's stepmother), was tried and found not guilty of the murders, though she was seen burning a dress like the one she wore on the day of the murder and had purchased an ax the day before. She lived as a wealthy heiress until her death in 1927.
