5. Today in History: The “red scare” blacklisted many people including writers, actors and directors. But on June 21, 1956, playwright Arthur Miller went in front of the House Committee on Un-American Activities and refused to name names. Miller was convicted of contempt of court -- not that it stopped him from going on to a highly successful career…and a marriage to Marilyn Monroe.
