Deadline Tomorrow: Time to Turn in Petitions for Municipal Vacancies
With little more than 24 hours to go, municipalities sit and wonder if anyone's going to run for election this year.

If you're planning on running for office in Upper Saucon, Lower Milford, or Coopersburg, it's time to gather up your signatures and head to the voter registration office to turn them in. Tomorrow is the deadline for election petitions, and prospective candidates have to have all their paperwork filed by Tuesday, March 8 at 4pm to be on the official ballot. Here's a rundown on where each municipality stands as of the writing of this article:
Upper Saucon Township: The township has two terms up on the Board of Supervisors for the 2011 election. A few people have turned in the necessary paperwork to be listed on the ballot for the Nov. 8 election.
Lower Milford: The township has two Board of Supervisor terms up for the 2011 election. One, Mike Snovitch, was finishing out a term and has to be elected to the position he now holds. Board of Supervisor chair Donna Wright's seat will be up for election this year as well.

Coopersburg: Coopersburg will have three seats on Borough Council available for the upcoming election season. Of all the municipalities, Coopersburg is having the most trouble filling its ballot for the fall. "We have three members potentially leaving the council, some with a decade on the council behind them," said Mayor Tim Paashaus. As of the writing of this article, none of the three had collected signatures to run again. "If we don't have anyone on the ballot, [the ballot] will be write-in only," said Paashaus.
