Heat, Storms to Intensify in So. Lehigh This Week

It will be hot and hotter as the first extended heat wave of 2013 blankets the Southern Lehigh area this week.

An extended heat wave is under way in the Southern Lehigh area, and it will get worse before it gets better, according to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service.

Expect the heat to intensify Tuesday through Thursday, when the heat index could climb into the mid to upper 90s.

The forecast for Center Valley calls for highs of 90 degrees on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Every day this week will bring a chance of thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe with strong, gusty winds and downpours. Stronger, more organized and widespread storms are expected later this week, the Weather Service says.
