Lehigh University Becomes Largest Landowner in Upper Saucon
In an email sent last week, Lehigh president Alice Gast announced the acquisition of land in Upper Saucon Township.

A land transfer deal brokered last week will make Lehigh University the largest landholder in Upper Saucon Township.Â
The 755-acre piece of land, east and south of the , stretches roughly from Routes 378 to 309. Lehigh is acquiring the multimillion-dollar tract from the Donald B. and Dorothy Stabler Foundation.
Donald Stabler, a Lehigh alumnus, has a history of large donations to the university, which named its arena and observatory platform after him.

According to recent reports , Lehigh and the Stabler Management Co. aren't commenting on whether the land was purchased or donated until the deal closes later this month.
