Lehigh Valley Home Sales Up in January

The Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors reports home sales were up in January 2012 compared to the same time last year.

“Pending home sales per month have increased over home sales during the same months the previous year for the past seven months,” said Andrea Decker, president of the organization.

Here are some January 2012 statistics:

• 395 home sales were pending, up 56 percent from last year
• 273 homes were sold, up 7.1 percent
• The average home sale price (total sales dollars divided by the number of sales) in January was $196,000 - a 2.1 percent increase
• 957 new listings went on the market in January
