Summary: On Feb. 8, Coopersburg police were called to the scene of a car accident. On arrival, police found a silver sedan parked in a snow bank beyond a telephone pole. According to the criminal complaint, tire marks showed a skid pattern consistent with leaving the road, going into a snow bank and stopping at the telephone pole. The complaint goes on to say the driver, later identified as Hudy, had slurred speech and trouble following commands like locating her license, registration and proof of insurance. Damage to the front end and side of the car was consistent with striking a telephone pole.
When questioned about the damage done to her car, Hudy claimed she was in an accident, but that the incident happened leaving her garage. Hudy then refused a Breathalyzer test multiple times. When asked to exit the car, Hudy allegedly had trouble exiting the car on her own. According to the complaint, officers determined that Hudy was unable to perform a field sobriety test. While being placed under arrest, officers stated, “Hudy continuously attempted to turn around and tell us to stop what we were doing, that she is fine and does not need to be arrested.”
Hudy was then cuffed, double locked and removed from the scene to have blood drawn. According to the complaint, Hudy was also mildly uncooperative during the blood draw. Her blood-alcohol level two hours after the incident was between .08 and .10 percent -- over the legal limit of .08.
