Lower Milford Makes Deal with MontCo Borough for Street Sweeper
Purchase cost $3,200 and will bring in a "new" primary sweeper to the township

Lower Milford's recent acquisition of a street sweeper from Hatfield Borough will help cover the township's needs for clean streets at a lower cost.
A recent article in The Reporter stated that Hatfield council members voted to accept the purchase price of $3,200 for a 1979 Elgin Street Sweeper. The Elgin sweeper "needed constant repair and the borough's public works department has to manufacture parts for the vehicle, including sheer pins," according to the article.
The broken machine will be used as the primary sweeper for . "This new one [purchased from Hatfield Borough] runs better than our current sweeper and we'll use it as our primary sweeper," said Lower Milford director of public works Richard Kinsey. "Our current sweeper will be used as backup, or if we need to run two at the same time."

Kinsey also said the the township often buys used equipment to cover the needs of the borough. "We don't have " A new street sweeper can be hundreds of thousands of dollars, said Kinsey.
The township owns additional sweepers, one of which is used for parts. Other additional sweepers may find homes in other, smaller municipalities. "I'm putting it out there. There are places that don't have any [sweepers]," said Kinsey.
