Meth Lab Drug Bust on Kozy Korner Rd.

An Upper Saucon couple were arrested April 8 on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine in their home at 4141 Kozy Korner Road.

The arrest was made late Friday afternoon. assisted the Lehigh County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police in the arrests.

 According to the criminal complaint, Carl V. Deutsch and Kimberly Landis Fizer were running "a clandestine laboratory" where they "assembled chemicals together to manufacture methamphetamines." Police on the scene found the chemicals -- including red phosphorous, iodine and pseudoephedrine -- that are the key ingredients for manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to the complaint, officers recovered a scale at the scene. Officers also did a field test on residue found in the home that tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Deutsch is also charged with two counts of attempting to disarm a police officer. Sources close to the case say Deutsch twice attempted to remove a gun from an officer.

The drug task force, state police and Upper Saucon police had no comment at this time. Deutsch and Fizer's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
