Milky Way Fire Homeowner: We Will Rebuild our Lives Here
Lower Milford homeowner Carolyn Lendvay says her family will rebuild their home on Milky Way after Wednesday's fire.

According to neighbors Kyle Nieves and Samantha Brett, a loud noise they assumed was gunshots was the first sign of trouble.

"It was like, 'Pop Pop Pop' right outside [the house on Milky Way]," said Nieves. “We opened the window, and we saw the fire."
Nieves and Brett ran outside to find the Lendvays along with their 8-year-old son, Michael and their yellow Labrador, Sage, standing across the street.Â

It took two hours before the fire was declared extinguished. By 2am, the arrived to assist the Lendvays.
"The house isn't in good shape," said Carolyn Lendvay, recounting her quick trip inside the home to grab a few necessities the next afternoon. Initial reports place the house at a total loss. Â
However, the outpouring of goodwill for the family is what convinced Carolyn Lendvay that Milky Way is home.Â
"We aren't going anywhere," said Lendvay. "The support of this community, everything they've done for us [since the fire], is unbelievable. I can't thank everyone enough."
Within 24 hours, the Lower Milford community organized clothes, toiletries and even extended housing credits for the family and their pooch. There's talk of fundraisers, barbecues and block parties to help the family get back on their feet. Â

, where Michael is a second-grader, is also planning on rallying around the family.Â
"St. Mike's [school] has already reached out to us," said Lendvay. "We are being taken care of my some of the most incredible people. Thank them for us."
