Philly TV Legend Dick Clark Dead at 82

Legendary Philly broadcaster Dick Clark has died at age 82, his publicist confirms. According to multiple news sources, Clark died of a massive heart attack at a Southern California hospital Wednesday. He had been taken there for an outpatient procedure on Tuesday. Clark suffered a stroke in 2004, but continued to appear on his signature "New Year's Rockin' Eve" show as late as Jan. 1, 2012.

Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" put thousands of local kids on TV and Philadelphia on the National TV and pop culture map.

Affectionately dubbed "the world's oldest teenager," Clark launched his national career from WFIL-TV in Philadelphia (now WPVI/6abc) in the '50s, bringing local kids dancing to top 40 hits into Delaware Valley living rooms and then homes around the country.

Thousands of local teens from all over the Delaware Valley appeared on the show before it was moved out of Philly.
