Problems With Lower Milford Officals? Call Jeff Tapler.
An open letter to the residents of Lower Milford

(Editor's note: Letters regarding elections are no longer being accepted for the 2011 primaries. All letters received have been run.)
Dear Editor,
My husband and I moved into our home in Lower Milford in 2003. Since that time we have a constant and significant issue every time it rains. There is a drainage ditch placed thorough the center of our yard which then leads to the neighbor’s yard down below us. This ditch supports BOTH sides of Chestnut Hill Church Road’s water.

When it rains, the water, debris, and dirt wash into this ditch causing it to overflow and rush down our yard creating hundreds of dollars of damage. Our flower beds get destroyed, our decorative rock gets washed away, and even our above the ground pool liner has been damaged due to the high flow of water slamming against its sides.
My husband has called Lower Milford Township multiple times with no results. After last Thursday’s storms (April 28th), and once again damage being done to our property, my husband called Jeffrey Tapler and asked if he could help us.

Within hours, township officials, showed up at our house to assess the damage. We were told that Jeffrey is not supervisor yet and if you have a problem call the Township directly. They looked at the drainage ditch and stated the township doesn’t really have the money to fix this. I then explained how we are now on our third pool liner secondary to the drainage issue. I felt as though the township then attacked me asking whether we got a permit to put up this pool. The above ground pool was put by the previous owners of the house.
The Township has failed to directly address the water situation, but instead attacked our property. Township officials then stated that they would get back to us by the end of the following week. As of the date of this letter, my husband and I have yet to hear any follow-up regarding the water issue DIRECTLY coming from the road.
The lack of response by Township officials is exactly what Mr. Tapler told me he is hearing from other property owners throughout the Township. That’s why we believe it is time for change in the Lower Milford Board of Supervisors.
Sincerely,
Nikki Alderfer
