Protesters Gather Outside Sen. Toomey's Office

They allege his policies do not favor the working class.

A group of protesters who gathered outside U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey's office Tuesday in neighboring Salisbury Township said Toomey hasn't done enough to promote job creation, according to The Morning Call. Some in the labor-backed crowd held signs, such as one that read, "Sen. Toomey, where are the jobs?"

The protest comes after the announcement that Toomey has been selected to participate in the 12-person "supercommittee." The group is charged with cutting $1.5 trillion from the deficit.

Jody Weinrich, a 62-year-old garment textile worker laid off in 2008 by TAMA Manufacturing, told The Call that Toomey's efforts do not help the working class but "help big business, CEOs and millionaires."
