Tonight: A Mac vs. PC Presentation at School Board Meeting
Presentation shows price of Toshiba and Dell laptops higher than Macbooks

Solehi parents and school board members hoping to get a better understanding of the potential benefit of outfitting the school with Macbooks instead of moving to a PC-based computer platform will get their answers at tonight's school board meeting.Â
A presentation this evening, slated to be given by Technology Director Ken Jordan, looks at the cost and benefits of teaching students on Apple products rather on PCs.
The presentation comes after the Budget and Finance committee presentation on a more cost-efficient was presented at the March 12 school board meeting.

"For students, we are teaching computer skills that they are perfectly capable of learning on a PC," said board member John Quigley at the March meeting.Â

- It's Cheaper- The presentation places the price for a Macbook suite at $1,099.00. Meanwhile, the comparable Toshiba suite costs $1,580.65 and the Dell suite costs $1,255.65
- It's the Computer of Choice for Innovative Industries-Â The presentation shows several slides that argue that businesses using Macs are growing at a rapid rate.Â
- Macs are Easier to Maintain- The slides present information from outside industry sources that note Macs are cheaper and easier to troubleshoot.
The school board meets tonight at 7:30 at Southern Lehigh High School.Â
