Southern Lehigh Gathers to Say Goodbye to Joseph Liberati
Hundreds gather for memorial service Sunday in superintendent's honor.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in the Southern Lehigh High School gymnasium Sunday afternoon to share stories and say goodbye to superintendent Joseph Liberati.
According to the Express Times, more than 200 people gathered to share memories of Liberati, who Liberati was with the Southern Lehigh School District for 12 years, first hired as an assistant principal at Southern Lehigh Middle School in 1989. According to a 1991 Morning Call article, Liberati was appointed principal of the two schools when Robert Csizma retired from the district.
In 1999, the school board appointed Liberati director of curriculum in charge of compliance. He was appointed assistant superintendent in 2001 and substitute superintendent in 2002. Liberati was appointed district superintendent in 2003.
