Southern Lehigh School Board: How They Voted
A roundup of comments from board members as they voted

FOR LAPTOP LEASE (2,000 units)
Dr. Elizabeth Stelts- "I like the case made to have a 1:1 ratio at the high school.Â
Corinne Gunkle- "I have a science and technology background, and I can tell you that [companies I've worked for] couldn't find enough people in the United States to hire for tech positions. I am all for what will make our students more competitive in math and science."

Bill Hayes- "Having been in school administration, I understand the fact that these computers will get broken or harmed. I think this lease is the right move."

AGAINST LAPTOP LEASE (2,000 units)
James Lindsay- "I'm a taxpayer and a father of three, and I've visited the schools. The best teachers were the teachers engaged in the classrooms, not sitting in front of a computer. I'm concerned there ahs been more of a focus on the laptops and less on the kids."
Bill Lycett- "I don’t want to walk into a classroom five years from now and see a bunch of students staring dead into their computer while the teacher sits at the front of the room."
John Quigley- "[While looking at the Dell website] I just don't see where [the presentation] is getting the numbers. The Dell website doesn't have a package that even comes close. Frankly, I just don't trust the numbers in front of us today."Â
