State Theatre Announces Which Schools Will Participate in the Freddy Awards

Southern Lehigh High School, one of the 29 participants, will present "Annie" March 3-5.

Never mind the Oscar nominations: if you're a drama club kid in the Lehigh Valley, there's a good chance that what you're more interested in are the Freddy Awards, held each year at the State Theatre in Easton to honor local high school musicals.

The actual nominations won't be chosen until May 12. On Tuesday, the award season got underway as the State Theatre announced the 29 schools that will be in the running for awards, including first time participant Pen Argyl Area High School.

Southern Lehigh High School will present Annie at 7:30 p.m. March 3 through 5 .
