Child Porn, Heroin, and Meth: 2011 Crime Story Updates

Wondering what happened with Southern Lehigh's biggest crime stories? We take a look back and see what happened.

Summary- Christopher Cespuglio and Shelton Lynn Marsillett of Coopersburg were found at home with their young daughter surrounded by "hundreds of uncapped syringes laying through the entire residence...20-30 plastic containers of human urine...10 full garbage bags filled with garbage and moldy food with insects crawling and flying around" as well as dirty diapers and packets of heroin.

Charges- Endangering the Welfare of Children, Possession with Intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled or Counterfeit Substance.

Where is the Case Now- Cespuglio and Marsillett pleaded guilty to the charges. After proclaiming their daughter "lucky to be alive," Lehigh County Judge Lawrence Brenner sentenced Cespuglio and Marsillett to four years probation for one count of endangering the welfare of children and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Their daughter currently lives with relatives, but the court hopes to reunite the family in the future if both parents are deemed fit.

Summary- Upper Saucon resident Jay Mosebach was charged with posession of child pornography when DeSales University campus police found him in possession of child pornography printouts at the DeSales main library.

Charges- One count, possession of child pornography.

Where is the Case Now- Mosebach pleaded guilty to the charge. After an assessment that determined he is not a sexually violent predator, Mosebach was sentenced to two years probation and the requirement that he is registered on the sex offender list for 10 years.

Summary- Lower Milford resident Michael Scheeler was arrested for videotaping underage exchange students living in his home with a series of hidden cameras.  

Charges- In exchange for pleading guilty, Scheeler's charges were dropped to six counts of child pornography and six counts of invasion of privacy.

Where is the Case Now- The court deemed Scheeler a sexually violent predator, meaning he will be in the National Sex Offender Registry for life. On Nov. 16, Scheeler was sentenced to between 55 months and 26 years in prison. Scheeler is appealing his sentence. On Dec. 19, Scheeler's attorney, John Everett Cook, filed a motion to withdraw as counsel.

Summary- After a coordinated effort between the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Lehigh County Drug Task Force, Solehi middle school teacher Garrett Dudeck was arrested selling methamphetamine out of his Bethlehem home. Also arrested was Edward Shelton, 50.

Charges- Two counts of methamphetamine distribution, one count of conspiracy.

Where is the Case Now- Dudeck was scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 14. The sentencing has been continued, with no future date set as of this writing. Dudeck is currently on house arrest.

Summary- Coopersburg EMT Christian Ford was arrested with a laptop filled with sexually explicit child pornography at his mother's home in Harleysville (Montgomery County).

Charges:

• 13 counts of dissemination of child pornography
• 55 counts of possession of child pornography
• 68 counts of criminal use of a communication facility

Where is the Case Now- On Nov. 21, Ford pleaded guilty to one count of dissemination and possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility. He was sentenced to 11 1/2 months to 23 months in county jail, followed by 11 1/2 months parole and five years probation. He was deemed to not be a sexually violent predator and will have to register on the sexual offender registry for 10 years. He is scheduled to be released this spring.
