Upper Saucon Monthly Crime Watch Meeting Invites Resident Participation April 6
Group hopes to branch out to all neighborhoods in Upper Saucon

At 7 tonight, Upper Saucon residents will meet at the township Municipal Building to move forward to establish neighborhood crime watch groups throughout the municipality's subdivisions and neighborhoods. “The focus of our meeting is to inform our [Upper Saucon] neighbors about the number of incidents that have occurred in the area and to take steps to minimize the potential for [residents] to become a victim [of burglary],” said John Kukitz, an Upper Saucon resident and one of the organizers of the crime watch meetings.
The idea came to Kukitz after being the target of a burglary himself. “I got a call from [our alarm company] about a breach in my house. I rushed home to find two squad cars in my driveway,” said Kukitz.
After talking with neighbors about starting a crime watch group in their area, the idea grew to include other areas of the township. “By the time we developed the idea, the crime watch idea had grown,” said Kukitz.

The first meeting, held March 2, had more than 40 residents in attendance to discuss what they could do to make Upper Saucon safer. The upcoming meeting is expected to draw a much larger turnout. The meeting's agenda will include short talks by Cpl. Ed Hartman, Heidi Carr of A&B Safe and Lock and Ron Neimeyer, a retired Lehigh County sheriff.
