Man Convicted of Sexual Assault Gets Three to Six Years

A Quakertown man convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman at an Upper Saucon party was sentenced to three to six years at the Pennsylvania State Penitentiary.
Keith Ruppel II, 20, pled guilty to the April 3, 2011 assault last November.
According to the , an underage female was attending a party at the home of Ruppel’s father, who was away on vacation. At the party, the female admitted to drinking alcohol and passing out on a bed next to a friend. When she woke up, a man identified later as Ruppel was sexually assaulting her, the complaint said.

When brought in for questioning, Ruppel admitted to hosting the party at his father’s home while his father was away. He also admitted to having sex with the female without her consent.
According to the Morning Call, Ruppel's original charges of rape of an unconscious victim as well as misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and indecent assault of an unconscious victim were withdrawn. Ruppel was instead charged with felony sexual assault.

The article also states that Ruppel will have to register under Megan's Law on the sexual predator for 10 years. Senior Justice Lawrence J. Brenner determined during court proceedings that Ruppel was not to be considered a sexually violent predator, a label that requires lifetime registration
