Local Olympian Lepchenko Loses Second Round Tennis Match

Lehigh Valley Olympian lost Tuesday in the second round of singles tennis to Julia Goerges of Germany.

Lepchenko, who resided in South Whitehall but now lives in Upper Macungie, was defeated 6-3, 7-5.

Goerges now moves on to the third round in the 2012 Games.

Lepchenko, who was competing in her first Olympics, has trained at the in recent years and had competed in a tournament there.

Lepchenko after defeating Veronica Cepede Royg of Paraguay on Monday. Lepchenko had defeated Cepede Royg in the third set of her first-round match.

Rain had caused delays in the competition.
