Best Rhode Island Staycations For 2026

Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport may actually become an international airport again in 2026, but that doesn't mean you actually have to leave the country to have a good time.

In fact, with all there is to do in Rhode Island, you don't even have to leave the state.

Here are some great ideas for staycations right here in the Ocean State.

Newport: There's no shortage of things to do in Newport, from sailing, the beaches, the mansions and historic sites, to shopping and the iconic Ocean Drive.

Narragansett: Enjoy Narragansett's pristine beaches and check out the Point Judith Lighthouse. And when you're done with that, check out the Towers, the Port of Port of Galilee and the Point Judith Fishermen's Memorial and the South County Museum and School of Craft.

Westerly: Check out Watch Hill, where Taylor Swift owns a mansion, hike to Watch Hill Lighthouse, take a ride one the Flying Horse Carousel, have a beach day, browse the Savoy Bookshop, and consider looking around the Ocean House, rumored to be the venue for Swift's impending wedding to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

Block Island: It's an island, so there's plenty of waterfront and beautiful beaches, as well as harbors and opportunities for boating. Block Island also has a variety of hiking trails.

Providence: What better place to spend a staycation than the state capital, where you have Roger Williams Park, which is home to a zoo, botanical gardens, and a planetarium. It's perfect for a day of exploration and relaxation in nature. Don't pass on the Rhode Island School of Design Museum and make sure to visit Federal Hill, known as Providence's Little Italy.
