Rhode Island Elections Committee Meeting To Hear Bill On Military Ballots

The committee is also meeting to hear a bill relating to changing the date of primary elections.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The House Committee on State Government and Elections is scheduled to meet Thursday to hear bills relating to ballots for the military and changing the date of primary elections.

The committee is scheduled to meet at the rise of the House, about 4:30 p.m., in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House.

The panel will hear testimony on two bills.

One bill, introduced by Rep. William W. O’Brien, D-North Providence, would entitle disabled and military voters to utilize electronically transmitted ballots.

The other bill, introduced by Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski, D-Cranston, would require that the primary election date, statutorily the eighth Tuesday preceding the biennial state elections, would be held on the Wednesday when Labor Day is the day before said Tuesday.
