Rhode Island Hit With High Surf Advisory
"Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions," the National Weather Service warned.
The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory for Rhode Island.
The high surf advisory started Wednesday morning and was to remain in effect until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service warned of "Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet expected in the surf zone" and predicted "Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion, especially those with east-facing exposures."

"Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions," the National Weather Service said.
The National Weather Service previously predicted that Hurricane Humberto would "bring increasing southerly swell to the waters" Tuesday and Wednesday, lingering into Thursday, "with near gale force (northeast) winds late Tuesday night into Wednesday night.
By Friday, "wave heights may be more than twice the significant wave height," the National Weather Service said.
