Warwick Man Charged With Assault After Incident At Basketball Game: Official

The Warwick man turned himself in Wednesday, the director of communications for the city of Providence said.

PROVIDENCE — A Warwick man was charged with felony assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection with an incident following a basketball game, a Providence official said.

Christopher Cherry, 37, turned himself in at Central Station Wednesday and was arrested on a warrant, said Josh Estrella, the director of communications for the city of Providence.

"The warrant is connected to a reported assault on September 13 following a basketball game," Estrella said in an email. "The case remains under investigation."

Cherry appeared in court Wednesday and his bond was set at $2,500.
