Blaze Damages Washington Street Home in Bristol

The first started late Monday night, Nov. 25; students living in the house reported the blaze.

Plywood covered the windows of a home at 78 Washington St. on Tuesday morning, Nov. 26. It was damaged in a blaze that started late Monday night.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, although Roger Williams University students who live there said they thought they smelled smoke when they left earlier in the evening, according to eastbayri.com.  When the students returned home, they reportedly found the second floor on fire.

Faulty wiring is believed to be the cause of the fire, which started in a second floor bedroom. The investigation was still underway Tuesday morning, according to the Bristol Fire Department.
