How Much Crime in Bristol?

15 violent crimes reported in Bristol in 2012.

Fifteen violent crimes were reported in Bristol last year, according to statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The 2012 number is up by 3 from the previous year's total of 12 violent crimes.

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year.

Violent crime is defined by the FBI as murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

In 2012, Bristol reported two forcible rapes, one robbery and 12 aggravated assaults.

In addition to violent crimes, Bristol reported 259 property crimes in 2012 – down by 52 from the previous year.

There were 45 burglaries, 211 instances of larceny or theft and 3 motor vehicle thefts. There also was one case of arson.
