Joseph D. Carreiro, 92, Retired Caretaker, Chauffeur

His visiting hours are today and his funeral service is Wednesday from the George Lima Funeral Home in Bristol

Joseph D. Carreiro, of Manchester Street, Bristol, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013. He was 92.

He was the husband of the late Rachel (Alves) Carreiro. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Francisco D. and Maria dosAnjos (Ferreira) Carreiro.

He attended Bristol Schools. He was a caretaker and chauffeur for the Smith family at their farm for 20 years and later worked at their companies, Smith's, Converse and PF Industries.

He is survived by his children, Duarte Carreiro and Cecilia Vallee of Bristol, brothers Tiofilo, Arthur, and Alvaro Carreiro of Bristol and Maria de Lourdes DaCosta of Canada, grandchildren, Jeffrey Carreiro, Lauren Machado, Lisa Werner, great grandchildren, Lucas Machado and Oliver and Lilian Werner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 10 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.

Calling hours are today from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bristol Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 775 Bristol, RI 02809, or the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main St, Providence, RI 02904.
