Lawrence J. Sanchas, 81, Chemical Engineer, Born in Warren

His calling hours and a memorial service will be held Saturday from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home in Warren.

Lawrence J. Sanchas, of 300 New Meadow Road, Barrington, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013. He was 81.

Born in Warren, he was a son of the late David and Flora (LaValle) Sanchas. He was a chemical engineer for Goodyear Tire, Amoco Oil, and Brocton Adhesives for 37 years until retiring in 1995. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. 

Sanchas had a zest for life and was loved by those around him. He had a passion for helping and teaching others, especially young people, and had an unmatched sense of humor. He had many interests and hobbies, including gardening, shell fishing, cooking, and bowling. 

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Hamel and son-in-law Paul; son David Sanchas and daughter-in-law Georgia; sister Shirley Annarumo; grandsons David Sanchas, SGT Matthew Hamel, USMC, and Michael Hamel; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward Sanchas.

Visitation hours will take place from 9 to 10:30 am Saturday, November 23, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 10:30 am at the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren. Interment will be at the Prince's Hill Cemetery, County Road, Barrington.
