Monday Essentials: Blithewold Story Time; Macaroni Supper; Violin Concert

Here are some things to know about this week, Dec. 2-8, in and around Bristol and Warren:

Roger Williams University continues its Great Films series on Wednesday with the Stanley Kubrick’s epic film, ”2001: A Space Odyssey.” It will be shown in the Global Heritage Hall Building, Room G01, 1 Old Ferry Road, Bristol.

Christmas at Blithewold holds the first of three traditional holiday story times on Wednesday at 4 pm in the beautifully decorated living room. This year, Blithewold is featuring classic holiday stories that have been told and retold during Christmases through the years. Drop in for one story time or come to all three on Dec. 4, 11, and 18. Free with a regular mansion admission.

The Bristol 4th of July Committee holds a macaroni and meatball supper on Wednesday at 5 pm at St. Mary's Church Parish Center, 330 Wood St. Tickets are $10 with children 5 and under for free. 

The Audubon Environmental Education Center in Bristol invites you to pick out your freshly cut Christmas tree grown locally on a RI tree farm on Saturday starting at 9 am.  After browsing for your tree, you can have your child's picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, view seasonal crafts and get your kids involved in activities just for them. Bring a donation for the RI Community Food Bank.

RI Philharmonic violinist Dave Bullock of Warren plays Sunday at the Baptist Church in Warren. It’s the first concert in a year-long concert series to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of church. He will be accompanied on piano by his daughter, Sarah Howard. They will play at the 10 am worship service and again at 3 pm.
