Monday Essentials: Bristol, Warren Festivals End Thanksgiving Week

Here are some things to know about during Thanksgiving week, Nov. 25 – Dec. 1, in and around Bristol and Warren:
Mt. Hope High’s Huskies and Barrington High’s Eagles tangle in the annual Thanksgiving Day football game at Victory Field in Barrington. Kickoff is at 10 am.
Warren’s 25th Holiday Festival starts Friday evening, Nov. 29, from 5 to 8 pm with activities all over downtown, including the annual tree lightings on Water Street and Main Street, holiday music and entertainment and Santa’s arrival. The holiday festival continues on Saturday with more activities and events from noon through the afternoon.

Trot Off Your Turkey at the 14th annual 5K road race and 1.5 mile walk on Saturday, Nov. 30, at St. Luke’s School in Barrington. The annual post-Thanksgiving fundraisers for the school and the RI Community Food Bank for TAP-IN in Barrington start at 10 am on Washington Road at St. Luke’s Church. Registration online and in person continues right up to the start of the races.
Ballet Prestige of Barrington presents its second performance of the classic ballet, “The Nutcracker,” on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 3 pm at St. Andrew’s School, 63 Federal Road, in Barrington. You can purchase tickets online or at the door of the McCulloch Center for the Arts.

The Bristol Christmas Festival is Sunday, Dec. 1, with the annual Grand Illumination ceremony in front of the Burnside Building at 6 pm. The festival starts in the morning at Mt. Hope High School with breakfast with Santa and other activities for children from 8 am to noon. It continues with holiday music and the pre-Grand Illumination show in front of the Burnside Building at 4:15 pm and ends after the tree lighting with a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and a Christmas music sing-along.
