Sabato J. 'Sonny' Stanzione, 79, Senior Schools Custodian

Sabato J. "Sonny" Stanzione, of 219 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was 79.

Stanzione born in Bristol and a lifelong resident. He was a son of the late Gaetano T. and Mary P. (Pagano) Stanzione.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and the Senior Custodian for the Bristol Public Schools for many years before retiring in 1997. Sabato was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol.

He is survived by two children, Gina L. Stanzione of Fall River, MA and Stewart A. Stanzione of Bristol, three grandchildren, Stephanie Hudon, Cameron and Cody Stanzione, a great granddaughter, Lillyanna Brightman, a brother, Bartholomew C. Stanzione, Barrington, four sisters, Catherine S. Marshall and Bernadette Tavares, both of Bristol, Frances A. Posta, Barrington and Stella Mae Sousa of Rumford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen J. Stanzione.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held for him on Monday, October 28, in St. Mary's Church, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours were respectfully omitted.
