Alexandra Curtis, Miss West Warwick, was crowned Miss Rhode Island 2015 at Rhode Island College on Saturday night. Her talent was a musical-theater performance of the character Ursula from “The Little Mermaid,” signing “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
Curtis is a currently enrolled in the Master of Public Affairs program at Brown University. She is a 2014 honors graduate of Syracuse University, where she served as president of the Student Association.

Curtis resides in West Warwick, and previously lived in East Greenwich, where she represented that town in the Miss Rhode Island Scholarship Pageant in 2014, finishing first runner-up. Alexandra is the daughter of Kathi and Mark Curtis. Earlier this year she represented Rhode Island in the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC.
“I am so excited to represent the Ocean State on the national stage,” Curtis said, “And in doing so we will be raising funds for a great cause.”

All of the preliminary state pageants raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the nation, including Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. Curtis held fundraisers in West Warwick, and collected over $2,000 in donations for the hospital.
She will receive several scholarships, including a full graduate scholarship at Salve Regina University if Newport. Historically, The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of college scholarships for women in the United States.
Curtis will now compete for the title of Miss America, at the national pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 13th.
