How Much Crime Takes Place in Coventry?

New statistics were released by the FBI this month.

Twenty-five violent crimes were reported in Coventry last year, according to according new statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The 2012 number is up from 2011's total of 22 violent crimes.

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year. Violent crime, as defined by the report, includes murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

In 2012, Coventry reported one murder, five forcible rapes, one robbery and 18 aggravated assaults.

In addition to violent crimes, Coventry reported 677 property crimes in 2012. There were 150 burglaries, 490 instances of larceny or theft, 37 motor vehicle thefts and 12 arsons.
