Jamestown Officer Killed in I-95 Head-On Crash
Ryan Bourque, of Allison Avenue in Coventry, was killed after his car was struck by a wrong-way driver early Monday.
COVENTRY, RI—A 24-year-old Coventry man driving home after his shift as a patrol officer for the Jamestown Police Department was killed after he was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 early Monday.
Ryan Bourque, of Allison Avenue, was killed after his car was struck by a Toyota Camry being driven by 23-year-old Dejae T. Pizarro of Bedford, Mass, according to the state police.
Pizarro was also killed in the crash.

Pizarro made a U-turn on the highway and hit Bourque's Dodge Charger head-on about 500 feet north of Exit 7 in East Greenwich, police said.
Bourque had just completed his shift that ended at 11 p.m. and was driving home when the crash happened at around 12:07 a.m., the state police said.

The highway was shut down for a period of time as crews extricated the victims and investigated the crash.
The incident remains under investigation. The State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit are assisting.
Bourque had just reached his one-year anniversary with the Jamestown Police Department. He is a graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School and went on to study at the University of Rhode Island.
In a statement, the Jamestown Police Department said that Bourque "completed his one year of service with our department on the date of the accident.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and brother and sister officers," the statement read.
