"Kent County Fundraisers Help Hasbro Children's Hospital"

Miss West Warwick 2015 Brings in Over $1,200

(West Warwick, Rhode Island) – Two fundraisers this past week in West Warwick were a huge success in raising funds for Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

As part of the Miss Rhode Island Scholarship Pageant, Miss West Warwick Alexandra Curtis raised $1,265.00 for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN). Hasbro is part of the CMN, so all monies raised in Rhode Island will be donated to programs at Hasbro. Among those stopping by was West Warwick native Evan Huddon, who has been treated at Hasbro many times (photo attached).

“Over the years money raised by Miss Rhode Island contestants has helped to build a special family room at Hasbro Children’s Hospital,” said Curtis. “It’s a place where parents can be comfortable while their children are being treated,” Curtis added.

Two “meet and greet” events were held at Gel’s Kitchen restaurant, 1745 Main Street, West Warwick. Diners were able to take pictures and get autographs with Miss West Warwick, Alexandra Curtis. The fundraisers were held Saturday morning May 16 and Friday evening May 22.

“This was a great way for our staff and customers to give back to the community, to support a hospital that helps so many of our ill children,” said Angelica “Gel” Penta, who owns Gel’s Kitchen with her husband Mike. The Pentas both made donations, as did State Rep. Patricia Serpa (D) West Warwick; and State Rep. Bobby Nardolillo (R) Coventry. (Photos attached, includes Angelica’s son Derek).
