What's Open, What's Closed on Labor Day in Coventry
We'll help you plan for the 2013 Labor Day holiday.

Ah, Labor Day. While about three weeks separate it from fall, it still is the unofficial end of summer. For better or worse.
The kids are back at school. The leaves will soon begin to change colors and fall to the ground. The temperatures will grow cooler, then colder.
But, until then, we have a day of relaxation and celebration for Coventry on Monday.Â

All Coventry schools will be closed and the Department of Public Works will be operating on a one-day delayed trash pickup schedule come Tuesday.
Public safety departments, such as police and fire will be in operation for emergency calls and normal patrols, however no administrative services will be available (VIN checks, records, accident reports, tax collections, etc.).

Most banks, including Sovereign Bank, Coventry Credit Union, Centreville and Randolph Savings will be closed, as will Citizens Bank with the exception of Stop & Shop branches which will be open holiday hours, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Â
Due to Labor Day being a Federal Holiday, all government offices will be closed Monday as well. That includes the U.S. Postal Service and the Coventry Post Office. In addition, Coventry Town Hall, Greene Library and other town offices will be closed. Coventry Public Library will close Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. and reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 9 a.m.The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, in observance of Labor Day. The Sunday/Holiday schedule will apply to all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys. Click here to view the schedules.
Be sure to call ahead to your favorite local businesses before venturing out, just in case they have changed their hours to observe the holiday.
