RhodeMap RI Regional Forum: The state wants to know – what's it like living and working in Rhode Island? You can tell them how to build a better Rhode Island. Thursday’s session is one of four being held around the state this week. It is a free public open forum where your thoughts and ideas can make a difference. At the URI Memorial Student Union in Kingston. From 5 to 9 p.m. Formal program begins at 6 p.m., but stop by anytime.

Ramadan ends: The holiest month in the Islamic faith – Ramadan – ends today, according to the Fiqh Council of North America.

Looking ahead …

On Friday, Poetry & Art opening: The opening reception for Poetry & Art, an exhibition of contemporary poetry and responsive art sponsored by the Wickford Art Association. A collection of 55 poems by local writers was compiled and 55 juried artist members of the WAA were asked to select a poem from the submissions and create a piece of art inspired by the poem. The opening takes place at 36 Beach Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On Friday, Paint the Town Red! a Gilbert Stuart fundraiser: The public is invited to the gala fundraiser Paint the Town Red!, at the Gilbert Stuart Museum, on Friday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and reservations are requested. The event will be held, rain or shine, under tents.  For questions or to make reservations please call the Museum at 401-294-3001. Proceeds will go toward painting the house and expanding the Welcome Center.
