To celebrate, RICM is offering a special series of STEAM workshops during winter vacation week, taking place December 26th-January 3rd, for students ages 8-13. Each 90-minute workshop is designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving through engaging STEAM activities, an educational and fun way to make the most of the holiday break!

Join your neighbors and friends at the open mic at the Narragansett Café in Jamestown on Wednesday, December 17, from 7 to 9 pm. Enjoy songs, instrumentals, storytelling, standup comedy, poetry, dramatic readings, and anything else creative in a welcoming and comfortable space. 
Each performer has the stage from five to seven minutes. Signup is at 6:30. Performers can preregister at WedsLiveGanny@gmail.com. 
The event is free and open to the public. The food is great and so are the drinks. Non-alcoholic beverages are available.

Fishar Stevens is a filmmaker from Rhode Island and the mind behind Tunnel, a creative studio that’s half real business, half running joke. For six years, he’s documented Tunnel’s attempts to “make it,” turning the chaos of building a company into an evolving meta-story about ambition, failure, and the absurdity of chasing success on camera. 

Q+A with the filmmaker will follow the screening. 
ARTIST STATEMENT
I like when people dedicate their focus to projects over long periods of time. Progression is the foundation of every good story in the world. “You were once that, and now you are THIS.” 
There is the positive side of progression. Rags to riches, weak to strong, naïve to knowledged, pawn to king, lost to found. And then there is the reverse. Order to chaos, hope to heartbreak, legend to ghost, genius to madman, free to trapped. 
The greatest stories show the greatest progression. Anybody that dedicates their focus to something over a lifetime is sure to live out a good story. That’s what I want to do.

Join gallerist and writer Michael Rose for his regular meetup “Drinks with Artists,” hosted at JAC! This monthly gathering brings together younger and emerging local artists for casual conversation. 
Michael Rose is a gallerist and writer with over a decade of leadership experience in the visual arts. Since 2014, he has served as the gallery manager at the historic Providence Art Club. Under his direction the Club’s galleries earned Best of RI Awards for Best Gallery in Providence for seven consecutive years and premiered new exhibitions like an annual Community Invitational and a College Biennial. Michael also founded New England Art News, a popular weekly newsletter and blog providing free information on arts opportunities. One of the northeast’s most active arts writers, he has been the weekly art columnist for GoLocalProv.com since 2021 and has profiled and reviewed hundreds of artists. 
A sought after juror and awards judge, Michael has worked on exhibitions throughout the region including for Bristol Art Museum, Warwick Center for the Arts, South Coast Artists, Plymouth Center for the Arts, Lyme Art Association, and Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, among others. Michael received his Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Providence College and earned a Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from New York University. The winter films Sunday Series at JAC kicks off with the screening of ROBERT FLAHERTY LOOK AGAIN: The John Howard Benson Film, a new documentary by Jamestown filmmaker Rebecca Miller. 
Miller’s 33-minute film revisits an project begun in 1944 by pioneering documentarian Robert Flaherty, who set out to make a portrait of the artist, calligrapher, and influential RISD faculty member John Howard Benson. Drawing from Flaherty’s previously unseen Benson footage—preserved in the RISD Archives—and from interviews Miller conducted in 1978 with figures such as Richard Leacock and Mrs. John Howard Benson, the documentary reconstructs a story long obscured by time.
Rather than treating Flaherty as an untouchable figure in cinema history, the film invites viewers to reconsider his legacy by placing him in tension with Benson’s quieter, exacting artistic world. The result is a lively, incisive study of two artists whose sensibilities collided in unexpected ways.
ROBERT FLAHERTY LOOK AGAIN offers a rare opportunity to witness archival material transformed into a potent, contemporary narrative—an invitation, as Miller puts it, “to take a look, and then look again.”

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Rebecca Miller is a bold multidisciplinary artist working across film, sculpture, graphic design, and writing. Her practice combines typography with sculptural aesthetics, animation, storytelling, and public communications, aiming to create curious, thoughtful experiences. 
She has generated ooohs and aaahs with her video programs, broadcast work, interactive communications and graphic design. Her work is known for unusual creative solutions, aggressive editing, graphic aesthetic, and original music scores. The founder of the production company Optik Nerve, Inc. since 1995, she has produced, directed, edited, written, and designed hundreds of high-impact long and short-form works for major corporations, broadcasters, agencies and universities across the globe. She began her career in television, working for national broadcasters and the international host, Sir David Frost. 
Rebecca is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, majoring in film and video, class of 1978. As a documentary filmmaker, she recently completed Robert Flaherty LOOK AGAIN: The John Howard Benson Film which is based on her original research on the filmmaker Robert Flaherty and the stonecutter, designer, and calligrapher John Howard Benson. The new film premiered in October 2025 at R.I. School of Design. 
She lives in Jamestown, Rhode Island and is married to the scientist Donald R. Sadoway. Her art is represented by the Atelier Contemporary gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
